I just can’t make my heart find someone new
I try not to think of Ray Price as the man who made AM radio so scary in the early 70’s (and most of the 80’s) with “For the Good Times.” In fact, when I started to dig deeper into the vaults as I learned about Country music I had written Price off just because of that damn song. As I hit the goldmine of Price’s 50’s and 60’s work it just reinforced the notion that the 70’s are a lost decade for Nashville.
So, forget the weepy, sentimental crap Price did later in his career and enjoy the irony-free honky-tonk sound of “I Wish I Could Fall In Love Today” for what it is. I also figure no one in their right mind wants to shell out $250 for the boxed set I linked to but you can snag a few of these tracks as part of the Essential Ray Price disc put out later.
