You got no mercy
One of the great things about the early 90’s music scene was the coming of age of the music sampler. The College Music Journal started distributing compilation CD’s to college radio stations and they were always chock full of good tracks. Even better, a large chunk of those CD’s wound up in used record stores across New England and you could snag one for a few dollars. Since the discs were meant for radio play many of them would have a band’s one good track so you could save yourself buying the full release. As a college kid with a limited budget this was key. I had thought about getting the House of Love’s album but I really just wanted this one track. The song was fantastic by itself but it was also key material for a lot of mix tapes. The song fit tapes for trying to get INTO a girl’s pants and for when you were trying to get OUT of said pants.
