A dream like I never had before
Remix EP’s are a dangerous game. Six remixes of a track already stretched out and threatening to collapse under its own weight is a true challenge of remixing skill. Thankfully, the folks who were roped into the task for the EP of IQU’s “Teenage Dream” were up to the task. Most found a way to slim the track down and jettison the long stretches of repetitive noise and grating guitars. Of the six folks invited to the party, Looper was by far the most famous at the time but Take One and Red Clay create a remix that turns the song into something entirely different. A few elements of the original song remain (a snippet of vocal sample here, a burst of rhythm there) but what’s left is a dubby, blissed out slice of heaven.
