We’re all actors in this I suppose.

When you say “Gil Scott-Heron,” most people say “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” and the conversation ends there. The truth is that Scott-Heron hit a peak with that song but he still had a few more great songs to come. “B-Movie” is part song, part poetry, part oral tradition of what life was like in the late eighties. Much of the story Scott-Heron is telling is as relevant today as it was then.

“What has happened is that in the last 20 years, America has changed from a producer to a consumer. And all consumers know that when the producer names the tune…the consumer has got to dance. That’s the way it is. We used to be a producer – very inflexible at that, and now we are consumers and, finding it difficult to understand. Natural resources and minerals will change your world.”

Musically it’s equal parts Jazz, Blues, Funk and Soul - twelve-plus minutes, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. (FYI for the download crowd, I made a 128K version but it’s still 11 MB so give it time - but it’s well worth it.)
