Mashups are always a crap shoot for me for every twenty I hear nineteen are forgettable, regrettable or both. (I never, ever, ever need to hear another mashup using Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” - seriously, stop it people!) However, over the years that twentieth one has been a lot of fun and found a permanent home in my remix collection. The formula of a brand new song with an older track is the usual approach but I’ve taken a greater shine to attempts to mix a few older songs together. When I heard this track it surprised me more people hadn’t used Primal Scream’s “Loaded” before since it’s nothing but slabs of instrumental goodness. It’s the perfect canvas to splatter the Beastie Boys’ “Ch-Check It Out” all over (in a good way.)
