There’s a fire in your soul, they say it took its toll
46bliss make their bones as a electronic pop band but the best song off their new album is more acoustic strum than beats and bass lines. “All Over Now” is that special category of sweet but depressing. Is the song a comforting lullaby or a somber dirge? The song benefits from a simple arrangement (even though there is a layer of electronic draped across the acoustic guitar and piano) and it drifts along slowly and fades away as softly as it starts. It makes perfect sense it would be the closing track on an album called Wish Me Away. On a bad day I’m sure it’s depressing too somber for daytime listening but it’s grown on me the last few weeks. I’ve tucked it away in a folder for when I need songs to finish a quieter, rainy-day mix.
