Je vole vers le ciel, Mais j’ sais qu’ la vie est belle

I lucked into a copy of Prose Combat in ‘96 or ‘97. I didn’t understand much, if any, of the lyrics but I loved the beats, the flow and the sound of MC Solaar’s voice. I lost track of what his new stuff sounded like but year after year I would dig up that album and love it a little more with each listen. I was perusing the foreign section of a record store a few years back and grabbed Mach 6 the second I saw it. “La Vie Est Belle” instantly became a favorite and somehow found a way on all sorts of mixes and playlists over years. If you know French I’m sure it’s a more meaningful song but I just dig the slow build of tension that kicks into high gear at about 2:30 and always gets me on edge in that awesome way that only a great song can.
